NK Watch at the 2023 Seoul International Youth Conference for Advancing Children’s and Youth Human Rights of North Korea

The North Korean Democratic Youth Student Forum held the 2023 Seoul International Youth Conference for Advancing Children’s and Youth Human Rights of North Korea on June 6, 2023 at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul under the theme of “Let’s open the door together for children’s and youth right of North Korea.”

It was attended by students, teachers and parents from international schools, foreign schools in Seoul and the metropolitan area. Participants discussed North Korean children, youth, and women’s human rights issues and sought to establish international youth solidarity to solve North Korean human rights issues.

NK Watch’s International Affairs Manager David R. Kay gives a presentation about North Korea’s duty to uphold the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights to Korean high schoolers and young people.

“The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has maintained its poor human rights record for far too long. In order to improve the lives and livelihood of their citizens, the international community continues to compel Pyongyang to abide by the international standards and norms established by documents such as the Universal Declaration on Human Rights.”
