Luncheon given by the embassy of the Netherlands in Seoul (09/28/2021)

On September 28, KwanHyung Lee, the program director, and Hyein Nam, the manager of international affairs at NK Watch , attended the luncheon given by Joanne Doornewaard, the Ambassador of the Netherlands in Seoul.

On September 27, at the conference on international advocacy to act to ensure accountability for North Korea’s human rights violations—hosted by NK Watch— Ambassador Joanne Doornewaard said, “North Korean human rights issue is not a local issue but an international issue and the Netherlands believes bringing justice for human rights violations is imperative.”

On the next day of the conference, during the luncheon on 28th, NK Watch had an opportunity to have conversations with the embassy of the Netherlands in Seoul, OHCHR Seoul, SARAM, Geoffrey Nice Foundation and Amnesty international in Seoul on international cooperation to promote North Korean human rights. Ambassador Joanne Doorewaard encouraged the participants by expressing her interest and concern about North Korean human rights, including the difficulties experienced by North Korean defectors during their settlement in South Korea.

NK Watch will continue to interact more actively with the international community to promote North Korean human rights.

Thank you.
