2019 Submission of North Korean Human Rights Victims’ Petitions to the UN

Since 2013, NK Watch has submitted petitions based on the testimonies of victims of human rights violations in North Korea to the following related UN bodies: Special Rapporteur on Torture, Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women, Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Special Rapporteur on Contemporary forms of Slavery, Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

In 2019, NK Watch submitted a total of 110 petitions to the UN. The collection of these submitted petitions was published. NK Watch would like to thank the North Korean defectors who have testified on their horrific ordeals on human rights violations, such as torture, in North Korea. NK Watch will strive to improve human rights situations in North Korea, and our endeavors to restore the rights and freedom in North Korea will be continued until the issues resolve.
